Billboard is a record chart mainly in the United States and Japan, ranking the most popular music weekly based on either streams, sales, radio plays, or all three. Billboard also has global and other country charts.

GENERAL GUIDE

Tracking period

Billboard tracking resets every week from Fridays to Thursdays (EST) or Friday 1:00 PM KST to Friday 12:59 PM KST.

Longevity

​While the first week is the most crucial and strongest tracking, the following weeks are equally important. Entering the chart is one thing, staying long inside the chart is another.

Do not use VPN, wherever you are!

When buying or streaming, use of VPN invalidates your purchase/stream. Note that there are Billboard Global charts.

Physical Album Purchase Guide (USA)

General guide:

  • Limit your purchase to 4 albums at max per transaction

  • If buying more than 4, split transaction. Recommended to buy from other stores or use different account and card/payment.

  • Make sure the store you are ordering from counts on Billboard

  • Make sure the album is USA Version

  • Your album will count on Billboard upon shipment, not when ordered

  • Must be shipped to a USA address.

Offline buying (Target, etc)

  • Limit your purchase to 4 albums at max per transaction

  • Please buy album on street release week (March 18 to 24) to strengthen first-week sales

  • Cash-basis payment is recommended if doing multiple transactions.

Digital Sales Purchase Guide

General guide:

  • Limit buying to 1 copy / account / card / week following the new rules of Billboard.

  • Use gift cards for payments if you can

  • Since this is a mini album with less than 10 tracks and we are aiming for Billboard 200, buy the MANIAC first then Buy/Complete the album!

  • If you cannot buy the the whole album, prioritize MANIAC and buy as many b-side tracks as you can.

  • DO NOT gift the song/album, it does not count on Billboard. Send fund instead and have the recipient download it their own.

  • Ask your friends and family to buy the song / album too!

Email-delivered digital store (like Stray Kids Shop)

  • Limit buying to 1 copy / account / card / week

  • On your email, make sure to download the song / album until it says “0 (zero).”

  • Your purchase will only count on Billboard once you have downloaded it.

  • Join Mass Purchase schedule. Mass purchase is crucial for iTunes charts. Even if the song/album hit #1 on your region, still buy as it will reflect on Billboard.

  • Limit buying to 1 copy / account / card / week

  • Buy the MANIAC first then Buy/Complete the album!

  • If buying multiple times (recommended) through use of different accounts, DO NOT at all use the same card/payment method as it will nullify your purchases. Let us not waste digital sale points.

  • DO NOT gift the song as it does not count on Billboard.

On Billboard Global 200, premium stream weighs 4.5 TIMES more than ad-supported stream!
